Halcyon Knights has partnered with a local government in regional South Australia to assist in their recruitment drive for a Head of Information, Systems, and Technology. This is a full-time permanent position offering an excellent salary of $112,000 - $131,000, with a relocation package available for the right candidate.
As Head of Systems and Technology, you will lead a dedicated IT team of three employees, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring operational stability and efficiencies. This leadership role requires a strong vision to align IT strategy with organisational goals while managing the departmental budget and overseeing technology investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
- Manage, monitor, and develop ICT infrastructure to support organisational requirements effectively.
- Establish and maintain an information security strategy, ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and policy requirements.
- Oversee the management and optimisation of information systems, including ICT Operations, Service Delivery, Infrastructure, Networking, and Telecoms.
- Ensure data security, privacy, and integrity, escalating issues when necessary.
- Create and implement annual plans from the Information Systems Strategy, Security Strategy, and Management Plan.
- Maintain and manage the IT and telecommunications business continuity plan to ensure system recovery.
- Lead and develop the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation and high-quality service delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement through innovative development of business systems, supporting process enhancements across the organisation.
- Align asset management plans with service levels and security strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.
- Monitor and approve IT spending within the allocated budget.
- Represent the organisation in relevant professional bodies and collaborate with other Councils within the Greater Yorke Peninsula region.
- Relevant qualifications, licences, skills, and competencies related to the role.
- Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role, ideally within local government or an aligned industry such as education, healthcare, or other large multisite organisations.
- Undergraduate, postgraduate, or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with application software and information systems management.
- Strong track record of developing and executing technology strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Azure & Office 365.
- Experience managing budgets and controlling expenditure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
